Celationship
Celationship = a celibate relationship
This term isn’t in the dictionary – yet! That’s likely to be because it is a term coined by ourselves to conveniently and succinctly describe a celibate relationship. It is generally accepted that sex has to be part and parcel of a committed relationship, but this is not so. There are many different facets to a relationship and even for those having sex, it is still only a small part of the whole. Trust, companionship, commitment, friendship, love, support, encouragement, shared interests and much more are all examples of what makes a relationship special with or without sex. Contrary to popular belief, there are millions of people worldwide who are currently in fulfilling relationships that aren’t sexual at all. Some examples of such cases include, but aren’t limited to:
- Couples waiting for marriage because of religious and/or moral reasons
- Couples where one or both partners have either a low or non-existent sex drive or need for sex
- Couples who once had sex but have found that it is not important to them as it once was
- Couples who have made a conscious decision to remain celibate for personal, spiritual or professional reasons
- Couples where one or both partners have a medical condition that necessitates a celibate relationship
